More than 30 Indian companies are interested in visiting Turkmenistan and exploring the capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, Indian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat said during a meeting with the leadership of the Türkmendeňizderýaýollary agency on Tuesday at the agency’s headquarters.
According to the Türkmendeňizderýaýollary press service, the parties discussed establishing cooperation in maritime transportation and the potential for cargo transit through the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
The meeting also highlighted the important role of the Turkmenbashi port in the International North-South Transport Corridor.
Representatives of Türkmendeňizderýaýollary proposed a mutual exchange of expertise in port management to the Indian delegation.
The total area of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport exceeds 150 hectares. Its total capacity is 17 million tons of cargo per year, including 300,000 passengers, 75,000 freight vehicles, 400,000 TEU containers, 3 million tons of bulk cargo, and 4 million tons of general cargo excluding petroleum products.
