Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, during a regular online government meeting on Friday, presented proposals for Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) in 2025, as well as the preparation of the corresponding Concept and Action Plan.

According to the official media of Turkmenistan, the vice premier emphasized that the Republic of Tajikistan's chairmanship of the program will conclude in 2024.

The vice premier also proposed nominating representatives from the State Concern Türkmengaz and the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan as members of the UNECE expert groups on gas, renewable energy sources, and clean power systems.

To implement the Framework Agreement on the Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in the Asia-Pacific Region, Meredov noted plans to establish a working group.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow approved the proposals, stressing that Turkmenistan cooperates closely and productively with the United Nations.

The United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia has been in operation since 1998. Turkmenistan has previously chaired SPECA several times, successfully hosting its meetings and economic forums.
