Elizabeth Rood took the oath of office as the new U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan, the U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan reported on Thursday.
The Senate confirmed her appointment in May 2024.
Rood previously served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Russia.
She succeeds Matthew Klimow, who served as the U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan from 2019 to 2024.
