Turkmenistan and EU Discuss New Transport Cooperation Initiatives
Meeting of Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Belgium Sapar Palvanov and the head of the cabinet of the EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Taneli Lahti

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, S. Palvanov, and the head of the cabinet of the EU Commissioner for International Partnerships, Taneli Lahti, discussed new areas of transport cooperation during an informal meeting, Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan reports.

Transport emerged as a key area of focus, with both sides acknowledging the growing importance of bilateral cooperation within the broader context of Central Asia-EU relations.

The meeting reviewed a range of existing bilateral and multilateral projects, and considered new directions for cooperation.

A significant topic of discussion was the upcoming launch of a coordination platform in Turkmenistan that will bring together transport ministers from Central Asian countries and the EU, aimed at fostering closer cooperation and joint initiatives in this sector.

The platform will track progress, strengthen interactions, and ensure the continued development of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor.

The agreement to establish the coordination platform was reached during the EU-Central Asia Transport Connectivity Investor Forum in January of this year.
