President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on 26 July, where a number of issues of state life were put on the agenda.
Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers M. Chakiyev reported on the ongoing work on digitalisation in the country, training of relevant specialists and creation of import-substituting complexes.
According to the implementation plan of the State Programme for the Development of Digital Economy of Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, it is planned to take measures to support small and medium-sized businesses specializing in the creation of national software products and production of special equipment.
It was reported that in this regard, the feasibility of establishing a closed joint-stock company "Tehno Merkez" to produce various servers and technical means for data storage and protection against cyber threats has been studied. Along with this, in the future it is planned to provide maintenance and technical support of server devices, as well as the production of equipment necessary for the systems of "smart" city and "smart" house, meeting international standards. Taking such a step will create additional jobs and raise the professional level of employees.
In this regard, a proposal has been submitted to the head of state for consideration.
Summing up the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that our country pays great attention to the development of the digital economy and implements programme measures to create import-substituting industries. Approving the proposal to establish in the country the production of server equipment for data storage and protection against cyber threats, the head of state instructed the head of the Agency to continue work in this direction.
