Seminar on World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements covering "Technical Barriers to Trade" and "Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures," Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

A seminar was held last week in Ashgabat focusing on World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements, specifically on "Technical Barriers to Trade" and "Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures," as reported by Turkmenistan's official media on Monday.

The seminar was part of the "Turkmenistan: Enhancing Stability and Trade Integration" program, which aims to prepare government officials for the country's potential WTO accession. Participants, including representatives from relevant ministries and universities, discussed national legislation in relation to international standards.

According to the report, Turkmenistan's State Committee for Standards, "Turkmenstandartlary," has finalized drafts for laws on "Technical Regulation" and "Standardization" under expert guidance, aligning with WTO requirements. The meeting reviewed the results of legal analysis with various ministries and state entities.

Experts emphasized the importance of streamlining trade procedures and aligning national legislation with international standards. Turkmenistan's Ministry of Finance and Economy is actively working on these objectives to facilitate the country's successful entry into the WTO.
