Turkmenistan is preparing to host a scientific-practical conference, titled “The Turkmen Manat – A Symbol of the Country’s Sustainable Development,” dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the introduction of the national currency.

According to official Turkmen media, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers for Economic and Financial Affairs, Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, reported on the preparations during the regular online government meeting on Friday.

Participants at the event will review the economic achievements made in the country since the introduction of the manat, discuss the implementation of national monetary policy, the provision of modern banking services through digital technology integration, improvements in the electronic payment system, and cooperation with international financial institutions.

Organized by the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the forum will feature representatives from relevant ministries and agencies, financial institutions, as well as higher and secondary specialized educational institutions.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has instructed officials to ensure thorough preparation and to hold the event to a high standard.

Since November 1, 1993, the manat has served as Turkmenistan's official currency. On January 1, 2009, new banknotes and coins of the revalued manat were introduced into circulation.
