Turkmenistan and Iran will hold the 18th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation by the end of this year.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported that this matter was discussed during a phone conversation on November 6, 2024, between Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and his Iranian counterpart Sayyid Abbas Araghchi.

During their discussion, the ministers addressed a wide range of topics related to bilateral cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. They noted the increasing pace of high-level contacts and reviewed the implementation of agreements reached during meetings between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Iran earlier this year.

The ministers emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between foreign ministries, including plans for meetings in both bilateral and multilateral formats in the near future. They paid particular attention to the development of trade and economic relations and explored the prospects for the work of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

Additionally, the parties discussed the advancement of cultural and humanitarian collaboration. They decided to conduct several joint events in November and December, including the Iran Agro Food exhibition, a Children's Friendship Week, and jewelry master classes.

On November 23, 2023, Ashgabat hosted a Turkmen-Iranian business forum focused on further deepening and expanding the fruitful partnership between the two countries.
