Turkmenistan and EU Discuss Priority Transport Projects and Financing
Online seminar as part of the EU Coordination Platform for the Development of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, November 20, 2024.

Turkmenistan and the European Union reviewed priority transport projects in Turkmenistan and explored financing options through international cooperation.

The Turkmenistan Embassy in Belgium reported that the discussion took place on Wednesday during an online seminar as part of the EU Coordination Platform for the Development of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.

Representatives from Turkmen state agencies, including the Agency for Transport and Communications and Turkmen Railways, participated alongside diplomats and officials from international financial institutions such as the Asian Development Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Participants highlighted the need to further develop transport infrastructure to enhance the transit potential of the Trans-Caspian Corridor and strengthen connections with Europe and Central Asia.

The Trans-Caspian transport route (or Trans-Caspian transport corridor) connects Central Asian countries with European markets through the Caspian Sea. This route includes several key transport segments, such as railways, highways, and maritime transport.
