Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, participated in the One Water Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people addressed the importance of adopting modern water-saving and green technologies during the summit. Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted Turkmenistan’s active use of advanced scientific innovations in environmental protection, which remains a top priority in the country’s state policy, as reported by Saudi Arabian media.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also underscored Turkmenistan’s efforts to collaborate with neighboring countries for the efficient use of water resources. He outlined key principles guiding the nation's water resource management policies and proposed several initiatives to enhance regional water resource governance.
Other prominent speakers at the summit included Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, French President Emmanuel Macron, World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, and Johan Rockström, Co-Chair of the Global Commission on the Economics of Water. Leaders of international organizations, heads of state, and business executives also addressed the gathering.
The One Water Summit serves as a global platform focused on sustainable water resource management. The event aims to raise awareness about water conservation and explore innovative solutions to tackle challenges related to water supply and sanitation.
