Turkmen-Iranian Business Forum, December 16, 2024, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

At the Turkmen-Iranian business forum on Monday, Iranian Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi expressed gratitude to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the excellent organization of the event.

Turkmenistan's official media reported that Aliabadi highlighted that more than 60 Iranian companies involved in agriculture, food production, equipment manufacturing, and technical services participated in the forum and the Iran Agrofood exhibition. This participation created new opportunities for mutual investments and business expansion.

The discussions focused on developing cooperation in strategically important areas such as energy, transportation, and transit. Aliabadi emphasized that implementing agreements in these sectors would significantly boost trade volumes between the two countries. He also highlighted the importance of the forum as a platform for exchanging experiences and establishing agreements between Iranian and Turkmen businesspeople, fostering stronger ties.

In turn, Mohammadali Dehghan Dehnavi, Deputy Minister and Head of Iran's Trade Development Organization, stressed the importance of strengthening trade and economic relations with Turkmenistan. He noted that the bilateral ties, rooted in cultural and historical commonalities, exemplify successful regional cooperation. He also highlighted the key role of both countries in developing trade and infrastructure in Central and Western Asia, pointing out that the strategic positions of Iran and Turkmenistan open new horizons for trade operations and joint projects.

Dehghan Dehnavi underscored that enhancing bilateral cooperation in energy, transportation, agriculture, and technology would create jobs, improve infrastructure, and promote sustainable economic growth. He concluded his remarks by urging representatives from both sides to intensify efforts to expand trade and exchange experiences further.

The Turkmen-Iranian business forum also served as an important platform to discuss opportunities in the agro-industrial complex, including agriculture and livestock. Dr. Babak Azari, Development Director of the Mogan Company, emphasized the significance of ethnic and cultural similarities between the countries, which foster fruitful collaboration in these sectors. Mogan expressed readiness to supply Turkmenistan with agricultural seeds, seedlings, and processed products.

Azari also noted that participation in the forum marks the beginning of a long-term partnership that will bring substantial benefits to both sides. Given Turkmenistan's strategic position and economic potential, collaboration with this market represents a crucial step for Iranian companies aiming to develop the agricultural sector and manufacturing capabilities.
