The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met on Tuesday in Ashgabat with Eric Stewart, Executive Director of the Turkmenistan-U.S. Business Council. During the meeting, Turkmenistan expressed its readiness to advance bilateral relations with the United States, as reported by official media of Turkmenistan.

Stewart expressed gratitude for the opportunity for a personal conversation and noted the strong interest of U.S. business circles in the Turkmen market, where all conditions for effective and mutually beneficial activities have been created. In the conversation, Eric Stewart highlighted that Turkmenistan sets an example for the world with its extensive initiatives in environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and ecological balance.

He also reminded attendees that Turkmenistan's efforts in environmental matters enjoy wide support from the international community. These achievements have resulted from the state environmental policy established by the National Leader of the Turkmen people.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, while thanking for the high praise, emphasized that Turkmenistan actively engages with international organizations, including the UN, in the environmental sphere. The discussions highlighted resolutions adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2024 at Turkmenistan's initiative, including "2025 - International Year of Peace and Trust" and "Central Asia - Zone of Peace, Trust, and Cooperation."

During the meeting, both sides noted the strengthening of partnership relations between Turkmenistan and the U.S. They emphasized that American companies play a crucial role in developing trade and economic interactions, particularly in energy, transportation, agriculture, and high technologies. The National Leader of the Turkmen people expressed satisfaction with the successful operations of American companies in strategically important sectors of the Turkmen economy and the growing interest in cooperation.

In concluding the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked Eric Stewart, Executive Director of the Turkmenistan - U.S. Business Council, for his personal contribution to expanding cooperation between the two countries.
