Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, on behalf of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, visited the U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat to express condolences on the passing of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, as reported by the Türkmenawtoulaglary agency.

Meredov signed the condolence book, which was opened for all who wished to honor the memory of the American leader.

The U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat expressed gratitude to everyone who came over the week to pay their respects to the late president.

Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100. In connection with this, a national mourning was declared in the U.S., and state funerals will be held on January 9 in Washington. For 30 days, U.S. flags will be flown at half-mast on government buildings both domestically and abroad, including diplomatic missions.
