President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met Thursday in Ashgabat with Hussein Al-Musallam, the Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and President of the World Aquatics Organization. During their discussion, Al-Musallam highlighted that the Olympic Council of Asia highly appreciates Turkmenistan's efforts in sports development.
The guest also expressed gratitude for the meeting and emphasized Turkmenistan's significant progress in promoting sports, strengthening the Olympic movement, and preparing athletes for international competitions, as reported by official media of Turkmenistan.
President Berdimuhamedov noted that cooperation with the Olympic Council of Asia remains vital for the country and expressed confidence that this visit would advance their mutually beneficial partnership.
The sides discussed key aspects of Turkmenistan's sports policy, focusing on the development of physical culture, promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and strengthening international cooperation.
They particularly emphasized the development of aquatic sports, which enhance youth health and enjoy global popularity.
At the end of the meeting, the head of state thanked the Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia for his substantial personal contribution to fostering cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Olympic Council of Asia.
