Astana hosted political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan on February 3, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, engaged in discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu.

The participants noted the dynamic development of bilateral dialogue based on mutually beneficial partnership principles during the meeting. They addressed current agenda issues, analyzed the state of cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, and reviewed the progress of previously reached agreements.

The ministers emphasized the importance of high-level contacts, which they believe play a key role in strengthening bilateral interaction. In the context of the International Year of Peace and Trust, they discussed joint initiatives and highlighted their positive experiences in international organizations, including the UN, OIC, ECO, and regional formats.

One topic of discussion focused on expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation and enhancing collaboration between the diplomatic services of both countries. In the economic segment of the negotiations, they recognized the potential for strengthening partnerships in energy, transportation, trade, and industry, underscoring the significance of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kazakh Commission.

The diplomats expressed interest in developing cultural, scientific, and educational exchanges, as well as collaboration in healthcare and sports.

At the conclusion of the consultations, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations based on centuries-old ties of friendship and good neighborliness.
