President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Rashid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, on Tuesday during his visit to Astana, as reported by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the Turkmen foreign minister conveyed warm greetings to Tokayev from President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In response, President of Kazakhstan expressed his best wishes to Turkmenistan's leadership and congratulated the country on the beginning of the International Year of Peace and Trust and its 30th anniversary of neutrality.
Tokayev highlighted the high level of Kazakh-Turkmen relations, emphasizing their development in the spirit of friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership. He also reaffirmed Kazakhstan's intention to support Turkmenistan's international initiatives.
The two sides discussed strengthening cooperation in political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, as well as implementing previously reached agreements, including projects in energy and transportation.
On February 3, 2025, Astana hosted political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
