Representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan participated in the international conference on assessing greenhouse gas emissions using the GOSAT satellite, held on February 3-4, 2025, in Tokyo, Japan. They delivered a presentation on Turkmenistan’s state environmental policy, including measures under the National Strategy on Climate Change.

Mergen Yusupov, deputy head of the Department for International Environmental Cooperation and Projects, presented the National Strategy on Climate Change, highlighting actions taken to address climate-related issues, as reported by press service of Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.

He emphasized Turkmenistan’s efforts to combat climate change and the international initiatives proposed by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, underscoring the nation’s commitment to global environmental cooperation.

During the conference, representatives from Central Asian countries, Japan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Mongolia discussed the potential of utilizing satellite data for greenhouse gas inventories, emphasizing the role of technology in environmental monitoring.
