The Sakarchage District of Mary Velayat won the annual competition for the best development among the country’s velayats and Ashgabat, receiving a $1 million cash prize. Oguljennet Berdiliyeva, Chairperson of the National Center of Trade Unions, announced this during an expanded Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday.
According to her, the etrap achieved high results in social, economic, and cultural indicators, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed an order granting Sakarchage District the 2024 competition victory and allocating the prize money to its administration. Head of state also announced the launch of a similar competition for 2025.
In the previous year, Ak Bugday District of Ahal Velayat received the top honor.
During the government meeting, officials reviewed the economic sectors’ performance for 2024, listened to reports from deputy prime ministers and ministry heads, and discussed key personnel matters and future socio-economic development plans.
