The International Wellness and Rehabilitation Center and the International Scientific and Clinical Center of Physiology in Ashgabat have received GERMAN DESIGN AWARD WINNER 2025 certificates from Rat für Formgebung (German Design Council) for architectural excellence and innovative medical technologies, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan on Wednesday.
The centers, opened last year on Turkmenistan’s Health and Medical Industry Workers' Day, were built on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, with the support of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The International Wellness and Rehabilitation Center has 400 beds, while the International Scientific and Clinical Center of Physiology has 250 beds.
The International Wellness and Rehabilitation Center specializes in post-injury and post-illness recovery, while the International Scientific and Clinical Center of Physiology focuses on medicinal plant research, allergology, immunology, nutrition, and respiratory health. The institutions have implemented a "mentor-student" training system for medical professionals and also perform laparoscopic stomach resections (Billroth II method), which facilitate rapid patient recovery.
Both centers were built by the Turkish company GAP Inşaat Ýatırım ve Dış Ticaret A.Ş. and are equipped with advanced technologies, including multimedia rehabilitation equipment, research laboratories, and modern diagnostic methods such as cholangioscopic and choledochoscopic procedures.
This competition is held annually in Frankfurt by the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung) with the support of the Federal Government of Germany.
