Ashgabat hosted the second meeting of the Steering Committee for the EU for a Green Turkmenistan: Political Dialogue and Climate Action for 2024–2028 project, marking a significant step in strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union on environmental protection and climate change, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan on Thursday.

The European Union and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) are supporting the project.

Representatives from the European Union, Germany, and key Turkmen ministries attended the meeting, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Energy, the Turkmengaz State Concern, and the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

The project aims to enhance dialogue and joint action between Turkmenistan and the EU on climate policy, promote the adoption of eco-friendly technologies, and support adaptation to climate change.

This initiative is part of the broader Green Central Asia program, which strengthens regional environmental and climate cooperation.
