2025: Turkmenistan and EU Discuss Preparation for Joint Events

Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Eduards Stiprais, the newly appointed Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia, on March 4 in Ashgabat. They focused on preparing for joint events planned for 2025.

The diplomats discussed initiatives and cooperation formats aimed at enhancing Turkmen-European collaboration, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The parties addressed political and diplomatic interaction, emphasizing the importance of the Joint Committee Turkmenistan–EU, the Inter-Parliamentary Dialogue, and the Human Rights Dialogue.

They paid particular attention to partnerships in energy, transportation, ecology, and the development of renewable energy sources. Participants explored trade and economic cooperation and discussed interactions with EU financial institutions.

In 2025, Ashgabat will host several international events to advance political and economic ties with the European Union, including the next meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Dialogue, the 20th meeting of foreign ministers from Central Asian countries and the EU, and a visit from EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen.
