Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, met with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, on March 16 in Doha, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the working meeting, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, as well as investment and transport projects, with special attention given to the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline.
The parties reviewed the progress of the construction of the Serhetabat-Herat section in Afghanistan as an important stage of the TAPI project. The Qatari side highly appreciated the cooperation in this area and noted the importance of Turkmenistan’s initiatives in the development of regional energy infrastructure.
The meeting addressed the expansion of bilateral cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. The ministers emphasized the importance of stable and trusting political dialogue, noting that regular high-level contacts contribute to strengthening Turkmen-Qatari relations.
On the same day, Rashid Meredov met with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In response, the Emir of Qatar expressed gratitude and sent greetings to Turkmen leadership, wishing prosperity during the holy month of Ramadan.
At the end of the meeting, Turkmenistan invited Qatar to participate in a high-level forum to be held on December 12, 2025, in Ashgabat, within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust.
