The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a phone conversation on Tuesday with the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko. During the conversation, he invited a high-level Russian delegation to participate in an international conference on child protection, which will be held on March 29 in Turkmenistan.
The event, titled "Year of Peace and Trust: Developing International Activities for the Sake of Children," will be organized by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assisting Children in Need of Guardianship, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
The Speaker of the Federation Council gratefully accepted the invitation and confirmed the intention of Russian parliamentarians to participate in the upcoming Turkmen events, especially the child protection conference.
During the conversation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highly appreciated Matviyenko's personal contribution to the development of strategic partnership between the two countries. He noted that Matviyenko's long-standing work in various high positions, including as the head of St. Petersburg and the Federation Council, has contributed to strengthening bilateral relations.
The sides discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in many areas, including new formats for interaction. Special attention was given to inter-parliamentary dialogue and cooperation between women in Central Asia and Russia—initiatives that have developed with the support of Valentina Matviyenko. They also discussed cultural and humanitarian cooperation in education, science, and healthcare.
At the end of the conversation, both sides expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of the partnership based on mutual understanding and trust and exchanged warm wishes for the peoples of both countries.
