President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met Wednesday in Ashgabat with Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye, Alparslan Bayraktar. During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of Turkmen gas supplies to Türkiye and onward to other interested countries.
The Minister of Energy of Türkiye arrived in Ashgabat at the head of a delegation to participate in the International Conference International Year of Peace and Trust: The Role of Interregional Economic Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the outcomes of the international forum would give a new boost to the development of intergovernmental relations, including in the energy sector, and reaffirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to expand cooperation with Türkiye.
The discussions also covered the development of bilateral cooperation in the fuel and energy, transportation and communication, agriculture, and investment sectors.
In particular, the talks focused on the implementation of Turkish companies' projects on the Turkmen Caspian coast, including the construction of a combined-cycle power plant, which will create conditions for exporting Turkmen electricity through the Caspian to Türkiye and other countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the further strengthening of Turkmen-Turkish relations, based on brotherhood and good-neighborliness.
