President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has begun a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, where he will participate in the first Central Asia – European Union summit.
Officials warmly saw off the head of state at Ashgabat International Airport, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan on Thursday.
The president’s aircraft landed at Samarkand airport, which was decorated with flags of the forum’s participating countries. Representatives of the Uzbek authorities welcomed him on the ground. From there, the president’s motorcade proceeded to the residence prepared for his stay in Uzbekistan.
The Samarkand summit, with the participation of Central Asian heads of state and EU leadership, will cover promising areas of cooperation in trade, economy, investment, and cultural and humanitarian sectors. Special emphasis will be placed on developing collaboration in alternative energy, the green economy, transport, and digitalization. The summit program also includes a series of high-level bilateral meetings.
