Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, met with President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during her visit to Tashkent to participate in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, as reported by the press service of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan on Monday.
The meeting was also attended by the heads of parliaments from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. The Turkmen delegation conveyed greetings and best wishes from President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Uzbek leader.
The participants of the meeting discussed the current state of regional cooperation and underscored the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations. Special emphasis was placed on the historical and cultural ties between the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples, highlighting the significance of humanitarian and interregional projects.
Both sides affirmed that the successful development of relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan is based on mutual respect, trust, and equal partnership.
During her working visit to Tashkent, Gulmanova also held a separate meeting with the Chairman of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Nuriddin Ismailov.
