President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor by one of Japan’s most prestigious universities, Tsukuba University, as reported by Turkmenistan’s official media on Tuesday.
The ceremony took place in Tokyo at the Imperial Hotel, where President Berdimuhamedov met with the university’s president, Kyosuke Nagata.
During the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Japan, including in the field of education. Turkmen leader noted the special role of academic exchanges and direct connections between the higher education institutions of both countries.
President Berdimuhamedov confirmed his commitment to further developing joint initiatives aimed at strengthening Turkmen-Japanese partnership in the humanitarian and scientific fields.
Currently, ooperation agreements are in force between Tsukuba University and two leading universities in Turkmenistan — the Dovletmammet Azadi Institute of World Languages and the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University.
