Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, held a phone conversation on Saturday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, as reported by Turkmen official media.
During the call, National Leader of the Turkmen People Berdimuhamedov extended his deepest condolences over the tragic explosion at the port in Bandar Abbas, conveying words of support on behalf of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the people of Turkmenistan.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized Turkmenistan’s readiness to provide medical and other necessary assistance to those affected, as a gesture of solidarity with its neighboring country.
Iranian President Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Turkmenistan’s swift offer of assistance, noting it was among the first received by Iran.
The two leaders also discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
According to Mehr News Agency, the death toll from the powerful explosion at the port of Bandar Abbas has risen to 40, with more than 900 people injured.
