The first meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Kyrgyz Commission on Transport, Transit and Logistics opened on Monday in Bishkek. During the meeting, the sides discussed the provision of mutual tariff preferences as well as key areas of cooperation in transportation and logistics.

The Turkmen delegation was led by A. Hudayberdiyev, Deputy Director General of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kyrgyzstan.

The discussions focused on prospects for enhancing transit shipments, creating multimodal container routes through the territories of both countries, and expanding cooperation in road, rail and water transport.

Special attention was given to the use of the infrastructure of Turkmenbashi International Seaport for the westbound transportation of Kyrgyz goods. The agenda also included consular cooperation issues, including visa procedures for participants in international transport.

Following the meeting, the sides plan to sign a Protocol to formalize the agreements reached and outline areas for further cooperation. The commission’s meetings are expected to become regular, with the second meeting scheduled to take place in Turkmenistan in 2026.
