A delegation of doctors from the Herat Regional Hospital in Afghanistan visited Ashgabat on 13-18 April to discuss potential exports of Turkmen-made pharmaceuticals, including products from the Turkmen-Indian joint antibiotic production facility, as reported by the Consulate of Turkmenistan in Herat.
During the visit, Afghan specialists held meetings with officials from the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, as well as with Turkmen medical professionals. The talks focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of pharmaceuticals and medical technologies.
The two sides discussed prospects for supplying medical equipment and pharmaceuticals produced in Turkmenistan. The Turkmen side presented the work of key enterprises and expressed readiness to expand partnerships with Afghan healthcare institutions.
The Afghan delegation emphasized the importance of knowledge-sharing and expressed interest in further deepening cooperation to improve healthcare systems in both countries.
The joint Turkmen-Indian pharmaceutical venture, TürkmenDerman Ajanta Farma Limited, was established in 1998 as the first pharmaceutical plant in the region to produce a wide range of medications. The facility currently manufactures nearly 100 different types of medicines and ointments.
