January–May: Retail Trade Turnover in Turkmenistan Increases by 12.5%

The volume of retail trade in Turkmenistan increased by 12.5 percent in January-May this year compared to the same period last year, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers for Economic and Financial Affairs Hojamyrat Geldimyradov reported during the regular online Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

According to Turkmenistan’s official media, the deputy of the Cabinet of Ministers reported that during the reporting period, gross domestic product grew by 6.3 percent. Growth rates in specific sectors included 0.8 percent in industry; 4.7 percent in construction; 10.8 percent in transport and communications; 9.9 percent in trade; 4 percent in agriculture; and 8.6 percent in services.

Additionally, the total volume of production in the first five months of this year increased by 9.7 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

The report also indicated that during the same period, the state budget’s revenue was fulfilled at 101.2 percent, while expenditures were executed at 97.6 percent.

After hearing the report, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of taking necessary measures to ensure the stable growth of the national economy and to maintain the GDP growth rate at the planned level through the end of the year. He instructed the deputy prime minister to keep strict oversight of the implementation of the state development programs.

The Cabinet of Ministers meeting also reviewed the results of the work carried out in the country over the first five months of this year.
