Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in New Delhi on June 5 to discuss expanding strategic cooperation between the two countries, according to Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry.

The ministers exchanged views on key aspects of bilateral engagement and outlined pathways for future cooperation. Discussions focused on political and diplomatic dialogue, trade and economic ties, and cultural and humanitarian collaboration.

Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining regular high-level contacts to strengthen mutual understanding and relations.

Special attention was given to the enhanced coordination of foreign ministries and joint action within international organizations.

In the economic segment of the talks, the ministers underscored the need to expand trade and investment cooperation and modernize the legal framework. They reaffirmed support for the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, calling it a key mechanism for advancing cooperation in areas such as the economy, science, and technology.

Priority sectors for partnership identified during the meeting included information technology, logistics and transport, textiles, chemicals, petrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals.

At the conclusion of the talks, both ministers expressed readiness to deepen comprehensive cooperation and reaffirmed their mutual interest in developing a reliable and mutually beneficial partnership.
