Turkmenistan Invites ILO Chief to Neutrality Anniversary Events in Ashgabat

Turkmenistan’s Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, Muhammetseyit Sylapov, extended an official invitation to International Labour Organization Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo to attend celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, scheduled for December in Ashgabat, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Switzerland. 

Houngbo welcomed the invitation and praised Turkmenistan’s cooperation with the ILO, especially in the cotton sector. He stressed the importance of continuing implementation of the ILO Committee on the Application of Standards’ recommendations and expressed willingness to consider participation at a high level.

On the sidelines of the 113th Session of the International Labour Conference, Turkmenistan’s delegation, led by Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Muhammetseyit Sylapov, met with Beate Andrees, Assistant Director-General of the International Labour Organization and Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia.
