Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday issued a statement expressing concern over the escalation of tensions in the Middle East following Israeli missile strikes on populated areas and facilities in Iran on June 13.

The ministry emphasized that Turkmenistan, which holds the status of permanent neutrality recognized by the United Nations, does not accept the use of force or the threat of force as a means of resolving international or political disputes.

“Turkmenistan does not accept the use of force or the threat of its use as a method of resolving political and other issues,” the ministry said. “We emphasize the need to rely on a broad arsenal of political and diplomatic tools to resolve complex situations exclusively through peaceful means, based on the UN Charter and universally recognized norms of international law.”

The statement came amid growing regional tensions and international calls for de-escalation.
