Turkmenistan, Italy Discuss Preparations for Upcoming Business Forum in Rome

Turkmenistan and Italy discussed preparations for an upcoming business forum in Rome focused on Turkmen-Italian cooperation. The talks took place during a business meeting held on June 16, 2025, at the Colonna Palace in the Italian capital.

According to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Italy, participants included Mario Morgoni, President of the Italian Institute for Asia (ISIA), ISIA Secretary General Domenico Palmieri, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Italy Toyly Komekov, and, via video link, Italy’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan Luigi Ferrari.

The meeting covered the expansion of business ties and deepening of partnerships in energy, renewable energy, agribusiness, the textile industry, and the IT sector.

Representatives of Italian companies also took the floor, expressing interest in entering the Turkmen market and taking part in the forthcoming business forum in Rome.

On June 19, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Toyly Komekov met with Pietro Sferra Carini, Deputy Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Italy, at the Chigi Palace, the official residence of the Italian head of government.

During the meeting, the Turkmen diplomat presented official invitations on behalf of the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, addressed to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, to attend the International Forum for Peace and Trust, scheduled for December 12, 2025, in Ashgabat. He also delivered an invitation from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, set to take place in Awaza from August 5 to 8.

The two sides also discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture, textiles, and cultural and humanitarian exchange.
