Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on June 24 to discuss a wide range of bilateral and regional issues, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported on Tuesday.
The two officials exchanged views on political, economic and humanitarian cooperation, and agreed to hold annual bilateral consultations in the near future.
They also discussed regional and international developments, including the recent situation in the Middle East.
Turkmenistan reaffirmed its commitment to preventive diplomacy and peaceful conflict resolution, citing strong international support for its permanent neutrality status.
The call included talks on long-term cooperation strategies between Turkmenistan and the United States.
