The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan, Atajan Movlamov, met with Umer Siddique, Director General for United Nations Affairs at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss bilateral cooperation within the UN framework, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Pakistan.
Ambassador Movlamov briefed Siddique on the upcoming Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, scheduled for August in Turkmenistan’s Awaza National Tourist Zone. He emphasized the conference’s significance not only for landlocked nations but also for many countries around the world.
Siddique praised Turkmenistan’s decision to host the international forum, describing it as a testament to the country's constructive and neutral foreign policy. He underscored the strategic importance of ensuring sustainable access to the open sea — a key factor in developing resilient logistics, trade, and regional integration.
Movlamov also congratulated Pakistan on assuming the presidency of the UN Security Council and wished it success in promoting the goals of the International Year of Peace and Trust. Siddique reaffirmed Pakistan’s intention to use its leadership role to advance the principles of a fair, peaceful, and balanced multipolar world order.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral dialogue based on mutual respect, trust, and shared interests across various UN platforms.
