National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived in the Republic of Azerbaijan on Wednesday for an official visit.
According to the APA news agency, the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was welcomed with official honors at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku. An honor guard was lined up at the aircraft, and the national flags of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan were flown over the terminal.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was greeted by Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Eyyubov, Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov and other government officials.
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan were established on Feb. 27, 1992.
