Turkmenistan, Cyprus Outline New Maritime Cooperation Steps

Turkmenistan’s State Service for Maritime and River Transport held talks with Marina Hadjimanolis, Cyprus’ deputy minister of shipping, who arrived to attend the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) in Avaza, state media reported Friday.

The negotiations focused on strengthening cooperation in maritime transport and logistics. The Cypriot delegation was briefed on the capabilities of the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi and Turkmenistan’s plans for further development of maritime infrastructure.

Special attention was given to personnel training and prospects for joint programs.

Following the meeting, both sides expressed confidence that the dialogue will serve as a foundation for expanding cooperation and launching new initiatives in the maritime and logistics sectors.

Cyprus is an island nation in the eastern Mediterranean with its capital in Nicosia. Located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa, it is a member of the European Union and is known for its tourism industry, maritime shipping and financial sector.
