Turkmen football clubs FC Arkadag and Ahal have learned their opponents for the group stage of the 2025–26 AFC Champions League 2. The draw took place on Friday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Turkmenistan’s champion, FC Arkadag, will compete in Group B alongside the seasoned Qatari club Al-Ahli, Uzbekistan’s Andijan, and Bahrain’s Al-Khaldiya, which has shown steady growth in recent years.
Ashgabat champion Ahal will play in Group C. Their opponents include one of Iran’s top clubs, Sepahan; the high-scoring Jordanian side Al-Hussein; and one of India’s oldest and most popular clubs, Mohun Bagan.
The group stage matches will be played both home and away. The first round kicks off on September 16, 2025, and runs through December 24, 2025. A total of 32 clubs will participate in the group stage, divided into eight groups of four teams each. Group winners and runners-up will advance to the Round of 16, which begins in February 2026.
For Arkadag and Ahal, this new competition format offers a valuable opportunity to make their mark on the international stage. The AFC Champions League 2 group stage features many strong clubs from Central Asia and Arab countries.
