A three-day methodological seminar on tuberculosis diagnostics was held from September 10 to 12 at the Central Laboratory of the Center for Infectious Disease Control, according to official Turkmen media reports released on Monday.
The training was organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in cooperation with the State Health Program Saglyk. Specialists from tuberculosis hospitals across all five provinces of Turkmenistan took part in the seminar.
Participants exchanged expertise and studied current approaches to the detection and treatment of tuberculosis, including hands-on training in modern laboratory technologies. The initiative aims to strengthen the country’s national laboratory capacity and improve the quality of medical services as part of comprehensive efforts to combat infectious diseases in Turkmenistan.
Earlier, the Government of Turkmenistan announced the launch of a new project titled Transition of the National Tuberculosis Control Program in Turkmenistan from Global Fund Financing. The project is being implemented in partnership with the UNDP.
