Transit cargo transportation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan reached 1.28 million tons in the first seven months of 2025, up 13% from the same period last year, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Turkmenistan Gismat Gozalov said in an article published in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan magazine.

About 76% of transit cargo moves by rail along the “East–West” route, Gozalov noted. Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan continue to expand cooperation in renewable energy and climate change mitigation.

Trade between the two countries has tripled over the past seven years, reaching $383 million in 2024, driven by active investment and successful joint projects.

Trade in the first five months of 2025 totaled $118.4 million.
