Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium Sapar Palvanov presented the country’s experience in strengthening demographic resilience and advancing gender equality at a high-level UN event held in Brussels at the Embassy of Kazakhstan, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium reported Wednesday.
Palvanov said Turkmenistan has cooperated with UNFPA and UN Women since the early years of independence, which has helped build substantial practical experience, develop legislative roadmaps and implement projects aimed at empowering women and improving national legislation.

Participants discussed key trends in demographic development and gender policy in the region.
They also highlighted the role of women in modern Turkmen society, noting their active participation in parliament, government institutions and the business sector.
Earlier the same day, Palvanov met with Chinwe Ogbonna, UNFPA’s director for Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan.
