Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held a phone conversation Friday with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, European Commission Vice President Kaja Kallas. During the call, the EU official emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan’s neutral foreign policy, which contributes to universal peace and development.
Kallas congratulated Turkmenistan on the 30th anniversary of its permanent neutrality and underscored the significance of its neutral foreign policy, according to the Friday's press release from Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
Both sides highly valued the level of dialogue between Turkmenistan and the European Union and discussed a broad range of bilateral issues. They noted the importance of existing cooperation mechanisms under the “EU–Turkmenistan” framework.
Special attention was given to the International Forum on Peace and Trust, scheduled to take place Dec. 12 in Ashgabat.
In March 2025, Kaja Kallas visited Ashgabat to participate in the 20th ministerial meeting “Central Asia–European Union.”
