President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan praised Turkmenistan’s achievements during his speech at an international forum in Ashgabat marking the 30th anniversary of the country’s permanent neutrality and the International Day of Neutrality. He highlighted the nation’s dynamic development since gaining independence, according to Turkmen state media Friday.
Erdoğan said Turkmenistan has become one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, emphasizing the historical significance of the anniversary and expressing deep respect for the Turkmen people.
The President of Türkiye added that it was a great honor for him to be once again in a land considered by Türkiye as its ancestral homeland. He warmly congratulated Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the milestone, conveying also the greetings and friendly wishes of Türkiye’s 86 million citizens.
Erdoğan stressed the special significance of the forum in the context of the International Year of Peace and Trust, declared by the UN at the initiative of Turkmenistan and Türkiye.
The President of Türkiye highlighted strong historical, cultural and spiritual ties between the two brotherly states. He paid particular attention to strategic cooperation in trade, investment, energy, transport, defense and humanitarian sectors.
Concluding his speech, Erdoğan expressed confidence that the forum would serve as an important step in strengthening peace, mutual understanding and cooperation between the countries.
