President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday proposed a project to build a modern plant for recycling household and construction waste during a meeting with representatives of the Japanese business community, according to official Turkmen media.
The president said the project aims to reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills through sorting, recycling, and reuse.
Berdimuhamedov emphasized that, amid the need for a comprehensive economic model update, Turkmenistan is focusing on implementing innovative development strategies, accelerated industrialization, the green transition, energy sector diversification, and the development of national and international transport and logistics connectivity. He noted that these areas offer real and mutually beneficial opportunities for active participation by Japanese businesses.
The meeting also highlighted the long-standing success of major Japanese companies in Turkmenistan and their contributions to large-scale projects.
In addition, the president proposed initiatives to improve wastewater treatment and to develop mini-plants for recycling plastic PET bottles and household appliances.
