Representatives of the Turkmen and Iranian border services held a meeting in Sаrakhs, during which they agreed to increase the volume of cargo transit through the border checkpoint.
Participants expressed readiness to continue cooperation to ensure sustainable security along the shared border, IRNA reported Wednesday.
Following the talks, a border protocol was signed, providing for the expansion of transit shipments through the Sаrakhs checkpoint and the coordination of customs operating hours and procedures.
The Sаrakhs rail and road border crossing is located in northeastern Iran, 185 kilometers northeast of Mashhad, on the border with Turkmenistan.
