President of Turkmenistan and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Army Gen. Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Saturday took part in the opening ceremony of a complex of new buildings and facilities for military units in the Sayat etrap of the Lebap province, Turkmenistan’s state media reported.
During the visit, Berdimuhamedov reviewed the living and service conditions of military personnel, including soldiers’ barracks, recreation areas, a library and a gym equipped with modern facilities.
Officials also presented the president with new military equipment recently introduced into service, underscoring ongoing efforts to modernize the armed forces.
Berdimuhamedov visited a military canteen and asked about meal arrangements for personnel. Officials said the menu includes natural products and traditional national dishes. The complex also includes a medical unit, retail facilities and sports grounds.
At a training range, the president observed military exercises from an observation post as troops used specialized equipment to build a temporary bridge over a reservoir to enable troop movement.
Berdimuhamedov inspected a residential area for officers’ families, consisting of four four-story apartment buildings with a total of 200 units, along with related social infrastructure. He visited one family, spoke with the serviceman’s children and presented them with gifts. Berdimuhamedov also presented service members with keys to new official vehicles.
