Turkmenistan and Afghanistan discussed the progress of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline project during a meeting between Turkmenistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan, Hoja Ovezov, and Afghanistan’s Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Hidayatullah Badri.
Ovezov briefed his counterpart on the current stage of the project and plans for further work, TOLO reported Sunday.
Both sides expressed hope that the pipeline would reach Herat by the end of the year.
Once completed, Afghanistan is expected to receive more than $1 billion annually from the project.
