Freight transport by road, rail, air, sea and river in Turkmenistan reached 101.4%, while passenger transport rose 103.4%, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Mammethan Chakyyev said at a regular government meeting Friday.
According to the Turkmen official media, growth in completed work and services in the country’s transport and communications complex totaled 113.3% during the reporting period.
In January 2026, services provided by the Ministry of Railway Transport increased 106.7%, the Ministry of Automobile Transport 120.9%, the State Service Turkmenhowayollary 119.8%, and the State Service of Maritime and River Transport 102.6%. Services under the Ministry of Communications rose 113%.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of continuing the systematic strengthening and modernization of the national transport system’s material and technical base.
The president instructed the deputy prime minister to focus on increasing passenger and freight volumes, expanding transit and international cargo traffic, and improving the quality of communications services provided to the public.
The Cabinet of Ministers meeting reviewed the results of work carried out in the country in January.
